Médaille sous capsule.

En 1956, la Bundeswehr, l’armée de la République fédérale d’Allemagne (RFA), est officiellement fondée. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l’Allemagne n’avait plus le droit de posséder une armée. Mais dans le contexte de la Guerre froide et face à la menace soviétique, les pays occidentaux autorisent la RFA à se réarmer. La Bundeswehr est alors créée comme une armée démocratique, sous contrôle civil et intégrée à l’OTAN dès 1955.
Medal in capsule. In 1956, the Bundeswehr, the army of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), was officially founded. After the Second World War, Germany was no longer allowed to have an army. But in the context of the Cold War and facing the Soviet threat, Western countries allowed the FRG to rearm. The Bundeswehr was then created as a democratic army, under civilian control and integrated into NATO in 1955.
