Beschreibung Rückseite Cheval bondissant à gauche, un V pointé et entouré d'un cordon perlé. Un annelet pointé et encerclé d'un cordon perlé entre les jambes. Un astre (?) derrière la jambe arrière. Un petit annelet et un cordon perlé en guise de rène devant le poitrail.

Ce statère est exceptionnel par l’orientation de l'œil ; tous les exemplaires sont tournés vers la droite ; il semble que ce soit le premier à être tourné à gauche. Semble être complètement inédit et manquer à tous les musées consultés et aux ouvrages de référence tels que le Traité de S. Scheers ou le "Nouvel atlas" de L.-P. Delestrée.

Historischer Hintergrund

Die Treverer waren ein sehr wichtiger Stamm im belgischen Gallien, der beide Ufer der Mosel kontrollierte. Ihre Nachbarn waren die Atuatuci, die Eburonen, die Remes und die Mediomatrics. Ihr Hauptoppidum befand sich in Titelberg (Luxemburg). Ihre Hauptstadt war Trier, das von Augustus als Colonia Augusta Treverorum neu gegründet wurde. Dieser Stamm wird oft von Caesar zitiert. Die Treverer beteiligten sich insbesondere im Jahr 54 am Krieg, während des Aufstands von Ambiorix, um die Linien Caesars zu durchtrennen, nachdem sie die Truppen von Sabinus und Cotta massakriert hatten. Die Treverer scheinen im Jahr 52 v. Chr. keine Entsatztruppen an Caesar geschickt zu haben (BG. I, 37; II, 24; III, 11; IV, 6, 10; V, 2-4, 24, 47, 53, 55, 58). ; VII, 63; VIII, 25, 45, 52).
