Ce type de rouelle en argent se rencontre vraiment exceptionnellement. Un autre exemplaire avec huit rayons est connu de nous comme provenant de Champagne. Le seul autre exemplaire passé en vente semble être le n° 347 de la VSO 3 de Poinsignon ; cet exemplaire d’une fabrication rigoureusement identique avait une jante fragmentaire !
Les rouelles en or et en argent avaient vraisemblablement une valeur monétaire, de par leur métal, mais aussi cultuelle !.
This type of silver wheel is truly exceptional. Another example with eight spokes is known to us as coming from Champagne. The only other example that came up for sale seems to be No. 347 of Poinsignon's VSO 3; this example of rigorously identical manufacture had a fragmentary rim! Gold and silver wheels probably had monetary value, due to their metal, but also religious value!
