L’attribution de cette dénomination reste incertaine. Lindgren attribuait la pièce à l’atelier de Damas, s’appuyant sur H. Seyrig (Scripta Numismatica, p. 409-410, 8-12 = RN 1955 p. 105-106, pl. 1). Le style de notre exemplaire pourrait le rapprocher de monnaies de Simyra en Phénicie. Une attribution à Abgar II, souverain d’, contemporain de Pompée n’est pas à écarter.
The attribution of this denomination remains uncertain. Lindgren attributed the coin to the Damascus mint, relying on H. Seyrig (Scripta Numismatica, p. 409-410, 8-12 = RN 1955 p. 105-106, pl. 1). The style of our example could bring it closer to coins from Simyra in Phoenicia. An attribution to Abgar II, sovereign of, contemporary of Pompey is not to be ruled out.
