Die Münzprägung von Metz ist recht reichhaltig und die Trienen tragen eine Inschrift, die es leicht macht, die Nachfolge der merowingischen Könige in dieser Stadt zu verfolgen. Viele Währungen haben auch ihren Namen auf der Goldprägung hinterlassen. Die Silberprägung ist deutlich weniger reich an Inschriften und beschränkt sich auf Typen mit wenigen Anfangsbuchstaben.
