Ce jeton est argenté, certainement d’époque et il faut regarder avec une extrême attention de petites zones du listel pour voir le cuivre sous-jacent. Les jetons de l’Ordinaire des guerres sont rares avec le buste de Louis XIII. Celui-ci doit dater des années 1635-1640. On peut noter la faute d’orthographe à Guerres au revers.
Mieux, on trouve dans la collection Tissière un autre exemplaire de ce très rare buste comme étant frappé à Sedan car marqué de l’étoile au revers (voir MONNAIES 17 n° 2636) or notre exemplaire est aussi marqué de l’étoile, il est donc frappé à Sedan, ce qui explique le fait qu’il soit argenté.
On notera encore, autre parenté, que l’exemplaire de la collection Tissière est aussi de l’Ordinaire des Guerres.
En revanche, ce buste devrait sortir du Guéant Prieur car ce n’est pas un buste officiel.
This token is silver, certainly from the period and you have to look very carefully at small areas of the rim to see the underlying copper. Tokens from the Ordinary of Wars are rare with the bust of Louis XIII. This one must date from the years 1635-1640. We can note the spelling mistake in Guerres on the reverse. Better, we find in the Tissière collection another example of this very rare bust as being struck in Sedan because marked with the star on the reverse (see COINS 17 n° 2636) but our example is also marked with the star, it is therefore struck in Sedan, which explains the fact that it is silver. We will also note, another relationship, that the example from the Tissière collection is also from the Ordinary of Wars. On the other hand, this bust should come from the Guéant Prieur because it is not an official bust
