(1991-)
Nordmazedonien entstand 1991 aus dem Zerfall der Sozialistischen Föderativen Republik Jugoslawien. Aus der ehemaligen jugoslawischen Republik Mazedonien wurde die Republik Mazedonien. Diese Bezeichnung stellt jedoch einen Unterschied zu Griechenland dar, das die Bezeichnung „Mazedonien“ als integralen Bestandteil des historischen Erbes Griechenlands ansieht. 2018 wird ein Kompromiss gefunden und das Land in Nordmazedonien umbenannt.
