Quelques informations sur l’épouse : Renée, princesse de Cambrai, née en 1546, fut mariée en 1579 à Jean de Montluc qui était Maréchal de France et l'ami intime du brave Louis de Bussy d'Amboise Elle mourut le 9 octobre 1595.
Jean de Montluc de Balagny (1560-1603) est le fils naturel de Jean de Montluc, évêque de Valence et fut légitimé en 1567. Il accompagna son père en Pologne dans une mission dont celui-ci était chargé par le Roi, et qui avait pour objet d’assurer la couronne au Duc d’Anjou. Après la mort de ce Prince, il embrassa le parti de la Ligue et fut battu devant Senlis en 1589 et à Arques. L’année suivante, il aida à faire lever le siège de Paris, et celui de Rouen en 1592. Il se réconcilia peu après avec le Roi par l’entremise de sa femme Louise d’Amboise. Il obtint d’Henri IV le bâton de Maréchal de France en 1594 et le gouvernement de Cambrai. Mais les Cambraisiens, mécontents de leur Gouverneur, livrèrent leur ville aux Espagnols et assiégèrent Balagny dans la citadelle. Sa femme révéla un courage héroïque et se montra digne du titre que portait son époux. Il dut se rendre, sans gloire, le 9 octobre 1595.
Après la mort de Renée de Clermont d’Amboise, il épousa le 17 février 1599 Diane d’Estrées, sœur de Gabrielle.
