Die Stadt Narbonne (Narbo Martius) wurde 118 v. Chr. gegründet und war die Hauptstadt von Narbonne. Die Provinz ist im Jahr 27 v. Chr. kaiserlich und kommt dann im Jahr 22 v. Chr. unter die Kontrolle des Senats.
