D’après le Moneta, ce type est attribué à Childebert Ier (537-548) et seulement quatre exemplaires ont été étudiés. Selon J. Lafaurie, ce type est également connu en argent.
Dans son étude à paraître sur “Le système trimétallique provençal de Théodebert (534-548)”, P. Schiesser confirme que d’autres rois comme Childebert Ier ont aussi frappé monnaies dans les trois métaux. Il illustre une monnaie comparable à la notre sous sa figure 47 (Cahiers E. Babelon 13.35.1.2).

Historischer Hintergrund
MÜNZEN DES MEROWINGISCHER - FRANKISCHE KÖNIGREICH - CHILDEBERT I
(511-558)
Childebert ist der Sohn von Clovis und Clothilde. Im Jahr 511, nach dem Tod seines Vaters, wurde das Königreich zwischen ihm und seinen drei Brüdern Thierry, Clodomir und Clothaire aufgeteilt. Childebert erbte die Ländereien zwischen Seine und Loire (Paris, Chartres, Le Mans). Im Jahr 526, nach dem Tod von Clodomir, schlachteten Childebert und Clotaire ihre Neffen ab, um sein Erbe an sich zu reißen. Im Jahr 534 schlossen sich Clothaire und Childebert zusammen und besiegten die Burgunder in der Nähe von Autun. Im Jahr 558 starb Childebert kinderlos und seine Ländereien wurden von Clothaire zurückerobert.
