Le Comité français des expositions et conventions est reconnu d'utilité publique en 1900 et a fusionné le 10 juin 1925 avec le "Comité national des expositions coloniales.
L'Exposition fut inaugurée le 29 avril 1911, juste neuf ans après une Première Exposition Internationale d'art décoratif moderne et parallèlement à une autre Exposition internationale d'art à Rome. La foire se distinguait par l'accent mis sur l'industrie et le travail.
L'Exposition se tenait dans le Parco del Valentino (comme les trois précédentes Expositions de 1884, 1885 et 1902 et comme ferait la foire de Turin de 1924.

Historischer Hintergrund
ITALIEN - ITALIEN KÖNIGREICH - VIKTOR EMANUEL III.
(29.07.1900-09.05.1946)
Victor-Emmanuel III, geboren am 11. November 1869, ist der Sohn von Humbert I. und Margarete von Savoyen und der Enkel von Victor-Emmanuel II. Er heiratete Hélène de Montenegro, die Tochter von Nikolaus I., im Jahr 1896. Nach der Ermordung seines Vaters durch einen Anarchisten im Jahr 1900 bestieg er den Thron. Dieser König ist Numismatikern wohl dafür bekannt, dass er die Veröffentlichung des Corpus Nummorum Italicorum (CNI) aus dem Jahr 1910, der Bibel italienischer Münzsammler, gefördert hat.. Im Ersten Weltkrieg stellte sich Italien ab 1915 auf die Seite der Alliierten, erlitt jedoch viele Niederlagen, bevor es die Front bei Caporetto gegen die Österreicher stabilisierte. Als konstitutioneller König ist er seit 1922 die Geisel oder der Komplize der Faschisten. Benito Mussolini (1883-1945) ist der eigentliche Regierungschef, der Duce. Die Lateranverträge von 1929 beendeten einen sechzigjährigen Konflikt mit dem Papsttum. Nach dem Einmarsch italienischer Truppen in dieses Land 1936 Kaiser von Äthiopien und 1939 König von Albanien, ließ er sich in den Zweiten Weltkrieg hineinziehen. Nach der Landung der Alliierten in Sizilien und in Süditalien stürzte er in einem Energieschub Mussolini, musste aber ins Exil gehen. Er dankte 1946 zugunsten seines Sohnes Humbert II. ab und starb am 28. Dezember 1947 in Alexandria..
