Le roi Constantin Ier était en 1915 partisan de la neutralité de la Grèce contrairement au premier ministre Elefthérios Venizélos. Il est alors considéré comme un ennemi de l’Entente. Cela est sans doute la raison pour laquelle cet essai de 1 Drachme au standard de l’Union Latine ne fut pas suivi par une émission de monnaie de circulation.
We have no idea of the precise rarity of this trial, but it is extreme. In 1915, King Constantine I was in favor of Greek neutrality, unlike Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos. He was then considered an enemy of the Entente. This is undoubtedly the reason why this trial of 1 Drachma to the Latin Union standard was not followed by an issue of circulating coin.
