Ce jeton existe aussi avec au droit les armes entourées du collier de l’ordre de Saint-Michel (Feu. 6489) et le millésime 1582 au revers. Celui sans le collier ni millésime est qualifié de “très rare” dans Feuardent.

Historischer Hintergrund
François, duc d'Alençon puis d'Anjou, Brabant et comte de Flandre
(1554-1584)
François (zuerst Hercule) ist der vierte Sohn von Heinrich II. und Katharina von Médicis. Als Bruder Heinrichs III. trug er den Titel eines Herzogs von Alençon und wurde zum Anführer der „Politiker“, die einem Bündnis mit den Protestanten zustimmten. Durch den „Frieden von Monsieur“ vom 6. Mai 1576 erhielt er Anjou, Touraine und Berry. Seine Intrigen mit Wilhelm von Oranien ermöglichten es ihm, 1582 zum Herzog von Brabant und Graf von Flandern ernannt zu werden. Mit seinem Tod im Jahr 1584 wurde das Herzogtum Alençon endgültig mit der Krone vereinigt.
