DEMOKRATISCHE REPUBLIK KONGO
(1960-)
Als Belgisch-Kongo 1960 seine Unabhängigkeit erlangte, wurde das Land zur Republik Kongo. 1964 wurde es in Demokratische Republik Kongo umbenannt. Zwischen 1971 und 1997 befürwortete Präsident Joseph-Désiré Mobutu die Authentizität Afrikas und benannte den Kongo in Republik Zaire (kurz Zaire) um. 1997, als Mobutu fiel, erhielt das Land wieder den Namen Demokratische Republik Kongo..
