AUFSTAND DER HERACLII
(Sommer 608 - 10.05.610
Heraklius war seit der Herrschaft von Maurice Tiberius Präfekt von Afrika. Mit seinem Sohn, ebenfalls Heraklius genannt, lehnte er sich gegen die Tyrannei des Phokas auf. Der Aufstand brach im Sommer 608 aus und schnell kontrollierten die Herakleiden Karthago und Alexandria sowie Zypern. Am 4. Oktober 610 landete Heraklius in Konstantinopel, stürzte Phokas und ließ ihn töten.
