Jean-Antoine Watteau, plus connu sous le nom d’Antoine Watteau, (1684-1721) est un peintre français . Influénce par le mouvement rocaille il s’adonne à représenté les passions et notamment les fêtes galantes inspiré des poèmes grecs d’Anacréon , ce que représente ici Bouneau en utilisant un des motif de l’huile sur toile “Pèlerinage à l’ile de cythère” 1717 conservé au Musée du Louvre INV 8525. Cette oeuvre constitue son morceau de réception à l’Académie de peinture et de sculpture. Soutenue par la famille Crozat Watteau réalise de nombreuses oeuvres. L’histoire d’Antoine Watteau nous est connu car rédigé par son ami le Comte de Caylus.
Medal in its blue cardboard box. Jean-Antoine Watteau, better known as Antoine Watteau, (1684-1721) is a French painter. Influenced by the Rococo movement, he devoted himself to representing passions and in particular gallant festivals inspired by the Greek poems of Anacreon, which Bouneau represents here using one of the motifs from the oil on canvas “Pilgrimage to the Island of Cythera” 1717 preserved at the Louvre Museum INV 8525. This work constitutes his reception piece at the Academy of Painting and Sculpture. Supported by the Crozat family, Watteau produced numerous works. The story of Antoine Watteau is known to us because it was written by his friend the Count of Caylus
