Nach Zenos Ermordung heiratet Anastase Ariadne, die ihn zum Kaiser wählt. Seine sehr lange Herrschaft von 27 Jahren stellt die kaiserliche Macht wieder her. Er starb ohne einen Erben, gilt aber heute als Gründer des Byzantinischen Reiches.
