Ce type précis serait attribuable à l’évêque Austrobertus (719-742) de Vienne (38) d’après l’article de Pierre Crinon et Jean-Claude Bedel ”Contribution au monnayage viennois du VIIIe siècle” dans le BSFN d’octobre 2003, p. 181. Le n° 626 de Cambridge présente ce même type d’avers mais avec un revers légèrement différent. Si les deniers avec un A, croiseté ou non, en plein champ sont assez courants, ils sont néanmoins très variés et globalement mal connus. Les différents types sont classés à la cité arverne, à Poitiers, à la région de Troyes, à Vienne etc...

This specific type would be attributable to Bishop Austrobertus (719-742) of Vienna (38) according to the article by Pierre Crinon and Jean-Claude Bedel “Contribution to the Viennese coinage of the 8th century” in the BSFN of October 2003, p. 181. No. 626 from Cambridge presents this same type of obverse but with a slightly different reverse. If denarii with an A, crossed or not, in the open field are quite common, they are nevertheless very varied and generally poorly known. The different types are classified in the Arverne city, in Poitiers, in the region of Troyes, in Vienna etc...
