L’ère de la cité d’Arados débute en 259-258 avant J.-C., d’abord indiquée en caractères araméens, la datation est ensuite inscrites en lettres numérales grecques dont la plus ancienne semble être 86 = 174-173. Tetradrachmes et didrachmes Lagides frappés avec ce type de datation pourraient être des imitations chypriotes ou frappées à Arados comme l’écrit O. Hoover.

Ptolemaios VI. war der älteste Sohn von Ptolemaios V. und Kleopatra I. Thea. Die Regentschaft seiner Mutter dauerte bis 176 v. Chr. Er regierte gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder Ptolemaios VIII. von 170 bis 164 v. Chr. Er heiratete seine Schwester Kleopatra II., von der er zwei Töchter hatte, und Ptolemaios VII. Er starb an seinen Wunden im Kampf gegen Alexander I. Balas.
