Même si les études réalisées sur les potins des Turons laissent à désirer, les auteurs du Nouvel Atlas n'ont repris que deux exemplaires ; celui de la classe I, typique avec sa petite tête chevelue et la croisette au revers, et celui de la classe II auquel tous les autres potins turons sont assimilés.

TURONES (Area of Touraine)
(2. – 1. Jahrhundert v. Chr.)
Das an der Loire ansässige Volk der Turonen hinterließ seinen Namen Tours und der Touraine. Sie werden mehrfach in Caesars Kommentaren zitiert. Sie scheinen nach dem Verschwinden des Arverne-Reiches im Jahr 121 v. Chr. an Bedeutung gewonnen zu haben. Wie die Pictons stellten die Turonen achttausend Mann für die Entsatzarmee, die Alesia befreien sollte. Ihr Hauptoppidum scheint in der Nähe der Stätte von Amboise platziert worden zu sein. Caesar (BG. II, 35; VII, 4, 75; VIII, 46).
