Semble inédit et non recensé avec cette combinaison de monogrammes pour l’atelier de Sardes. Ce type semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. C’est la première que nous le proposons à la vente.

Historischer Hintergrund
SYRIEN - SELEUKIDISCHES KÖNIGREICH - ANTIOCHOS II THEOS
(261-246 v. Chr.)
Antiochos II. trat die Nachfolge seines Vaters Antiochos I. (280–261 v. Chr.) an. Unter seiner Herrschaft gingen Parthien, Baktrien und das Königreich Pergamon endgültig verloren. Der Kampf gegen das Ägypten von Ptolemaios II. Philadelphus (285–246 v. Chr.) dauerte an und die Kontrolle über Syrien und Kilikien wurde oft in Frage gestellt. Antiochos II. kommt möglicherweise bei einem Attentat ums Leben.
