(150-145 v. Chr.)
Alexander I. Balas, der behauptete, der Sohn von Antiochos IV. Epiphanes (175–164 n. Chr.) zu sein, trat die Nachfolge von Demetrius I. Soter an, der auf dem Schlachtfeld getötet wurde. Er heiratete Kleopatra Thea. Mit Hilfe von Attalos II. von Pergame (160-139 n. Chr.) und Ptolemaios VI. Philometor (180-145 n. Chr.) gelang es ihm, fünf Jahre in Syrien zu bleiben, bevor er gestürzt und massakriert wurde. Demetrius II. folgte ihm nach..
