Le revers est très proche des petits bronzes de Marseille au taureau chargeant. Ce type avait été attribué à Métaponte par le vendeur en se basant sur l’exemplaire n ° 629 de la collection Pozzi republiée par Serge Boutin. (Richelieu Numismatique car cet exemplaire est en fait à rendre à la cité sicilienne. Notre exemplaire est donc bien de Syracuse, seul l’ethnique au droit n’est pas visible, mais au revers, nous avons un taureau conforme aux émissions de la ville sicilienne. Sur cet exemplaire, nous semblons voir un thêta plutôt qu’un omicron. Ce type est attribué par Hoover à Hiéron II, frappé entre 275 et 269/265 avant J.-C.
The reverse is very close to the small bronzes of Marseille with the charging bull. This type had been attributed to Metapontum by the seller based on example No. 629 of the Pozzi collection republished by Serge Boutin. (Richelieu Numismatics because this example is in fact to be returned to the Sicilian city. Our example is therefore indeed from Syracuse, only the ethnic on the obverse is not visible, but on the reverse, we have a bull consistent with the issues of the Sicilian city.
