Cette médaille est dédiée à Henri Gougerot (1881-1955) fut Externe des Hôpitaux de Paris en 1903, IHP l’année suivante, docteur en médecine en 1908. Moniteur d’anatomie pathologique en 1908, Chef de clinique en 1909 dans le service de Landouzy, Gougerot fut professeur agrégé en 1910 dans le service de Gaucher, chef du laboratoire de photothérapie à Saint-Louis de 1910 à 1914, assistant dans le service de Brocq en 1919, médecin des hôpitaux de Paris en 1921, chef de service à l’Hôpital Broca en 1927 et chef de service à Saint-Louis à partir de 1928. Gougerot succéda à Jeanselme en 1928 en tant que titulaire de la chaire de clinique des maladies cutanées et syphilitiques.
