Prieur de Crato, gouverneur de Tanger, Antoine Ier (1551-1595) est roi du Portugal et des Algarves du 25 juillet au 24 août 1580. Ses armées sont battues par les espagnols. Il cède la trône à Philippe II d’Espagne. Les couronnes d’Espagne et du Portugal sont alors unies jusqu’en 1640.
Prior of Crato, governor of Tangier, Anthony I (1551-1595) was king of Portugal and the Algarves from July 25 to August 24, 1580. His armies were defeated by the Spanish. He ceded the throne to Philip II of Spain. The crowns of Spain and Portugal were then united until 1640.
