L’officine H est l’une de celles qui frappent pour Julia Domna mais dont le gros de la production sera consacré à Macrin. Contrairement aux types précédents (Prieur 987A et 988), ce type n’est pas un hybride et le coin de revers n’est pas regravé. Notre exemplaire est de l’officine H, l’une des plus importantes.
L’attribution des séries au Shamash à Emesa est plus que probable mais la découverte d’une émission de présentation qui viendrait le confirmer serait la bienvenue.
Les émissions sont réparties en officines, terme impropre car il ne s’agit certainement pas d’officines au sens d’une répartition de la production. En effet, certaines lettres ou symboles se retrouvent sur de très nombreux exemplaires, d’autres sur une poignée : on doit donc plutôt réfléchir en source de financement, réparti probablement entre différentes familles ou institutions locales.
