Dans la nouvelle édition de l’ouvrage d’O. Hoover (HGCS 3/1, n° 958) ce type est attribué à Alexandre IV, le fils posthume d’Alexandre le Grand et de Roxane. Ce type particulier attribué à Salamine de Chypre aurait été frappé sous l’autorité de Nicocréon, dernier roi de Salamine (331-311 avant J.-C..
In the new edition of the work of O. Hoover (HGCS 3/1, no. 958) this type is attributed to Alexander IV, the posthumous son of Alexander the Great and Roxana. This particular type attributed to Salamis of Cyprus would have been minted under the authority of Nicocreon, last king of Salamis (331-311 BC).

Alexandre ist der Sohn von Alexandre III und Roxane. Nach dem Tod seines Vaters bevorzugten die mazedonischen Adligen seinen Onkel, den Halbbruder Alexanders, Philippe Arrhidée, wie einfältig er auch sein mochte. Nach der Ermordung des letzteren werden der Sohn von Alexandre und seine Mutter Opfer der Begierden der Epigonen, die die Fiktion des Imperiums aufrechterhalten und gleichzeitig die Realität der Macht an sich reißen wollen. Flüchtlinge mit Cassandre, Roxane und Alexandre IV. wurden schließlich 310-309 v. Chr. ermordet..
