Trace de deux autres empreintes au droit. Ces drachmes avec la petite tête sont moins courantes que celles à la grosse tête bouclée.
Avec la petite tête, il semble qu'il n'existe qu'un seul coin de revers et deux coins de droit ; celui représenté par la monnaie S. 441 et le second par la monnaie S. 442. Cet exemplaire correspond nettement au coin de la S. 442.

With the small head, it seems that there is only one reverse die and two obverse dies; the one represented by the coin S. 441 and the second by the coin S. 442. This example clearly corresponds to the die of S. 442

Historischer Hintergrund
GALLIEN - SÜDWESTGALLIEN - RUTENI (Region die Rodez)
(1. Jahrhundert v. Chr.)
Als Nachbarn der Arvernes, der Cadurques und der Gabales entsprach ihr Territorium dem ehemaligen Rouergue (heutiges Departement Aveyron) nördlich des Tarn, dessen Verlauf die Grenze zur Provinz Narbonnaise bildete. Die Rutener, Verbündete der Arvernes, hatten an den Operationen teilgenommen, die zur Niederlage von Bituit, dem König der Arvernes, im Jahr 121 v. Chr. und zur Gründung der Provinz Narbonnaise führten. Bei dieser Gelegenheit waren die Rutenes entlang der natürlichen Grenze des Tarn in zwei Teile geteilt worden. Sie beteiligten sich 52 v. Chr. an der Koalition gegen die Römer und stellten der Entsatzarmee ein Kontingent von 12.000 Mann. Quellen: Caesar (BG. I, 45; VII, 5, 64, 75 und 90).
