Les trois coeurs symbolisent l'union souhaitée entre les trois ordres de la province : Clergé, Noblesse, Tiers-Etat
Rouyer signale le destin singulier de ce jeton: quelques deux siècles après sa frappe, en 1788, un Grenoblois ayant trouvé ce jeton le publia et eut l'idée d'en faire un appel à la concorde et à la paix. Pour cela, il imprima une brochure intitulée Description d'une médaille trouvée dans la terre à Courenc près de Grenoble, le 11 novembre 1788.
