Monnaie en bon or, frappée sur un flan un peu court et irrégulier, avec un assez bon centrage au droit, mais un revers décalé sur la gauche avec une faiblesse de frappe sur la croix et une partie de la légende. Patine de collection ancienne

Kommentare

Cette monnaie appartient au quatrième groupe du monnayage mérovingien attribué à Chalon-sur-Saône. Avec la croix (non chrismée) reposant sur l’anneau centré.
Avec cette légende (et surtout sa position) au revers, ce triens ne correspond à aucune des monnaies illustrées dans l’ouvrage de Ponton d’Amécourt exclusivement sur les monnaies de Chalon-sur-Saône, ni dans le Répertoire de Belfort. Habituellement, le nom du monétaire est écrit WINTRIO ou VINTRIO et celui-ci commence à 6 heures, avec la légende complète WINTRIO MONETARIVS.
Sur cet exemplaire, il commence à 2 heures et la première lettre de son nom est un V avec une barre d’abréviation horizontale au-dessus. Le centrage ne permet pas de restituer les légendes avant et après VINTRIO, mais seule la monnaie n° 77 de Ponton d’Amécourt, bien que très décentrée, présente le nom du monétaire à cet endroit !.
This coin belongs to the fourth group of Merovingian coinage attributed to Chalon-sur-Saône. With the cross (not chrismated) resting on the centered ring. With this legend (and especially its position) on the reverse, this triens does not correspond to any of the coins illustrated in Ponton d'Amécourt's work exclusively on the coins of Chalon-sur-Saône, nor in the Belfort Repertory. Usually, the name of the mint is written WINTRIO or VINTRIO and this one begins at 6 o'clock, with the full legend WINTRIO MONETARIVS. On this example, it begins at 2 o'clock and the first letter of its name is a V with a horizontal abbreviation bar above. Centering does not allow for the legends before and after VINTRIO to be restored, but only coin no. 77 from Ponton d'Amécourt, although very off-center, shows the name of the mint at this location!
