Beschreibung Vorderseite Tête géométrique à droite, l’œil figuré par un gros annelet pointé central ; bourrelet périphérique avec de petits arcs de cerlces.

Kommentare
Sur ce potin, la tête peut être interprétée à droite, avec la hampe en guise de cou. Le revers (avec un taureau si géométrique) est d’une orientation indéterminées !
Le potin LT. 9541 était mal compris à l’époque, avec une inversion avers et revers et une mauvaise orientation du taureau ! Les potin de petit modules semblent plus rare dans la production de monnaies coulée outre-Manche, pourtant l’ABC indique ce potin comme “très commun” en associant les avers à droite et les avers à gauche sous le n° 174.
On this potin, the head can be interpreted as right-facing, with the shaft as a neck. The reverse (with such a geometric bull) is of an indeterminate orientation! Potin LT. 9541 was misunderstood at the time, with an obverse and reverse inversion and a wrong orientation of the bull! Small-sized potin seem rarer in the production of coins cast across the Channel, yet the ABC indicates this potin as “very common” by associating the obverses on the right and the obverses on the left under the n° 174

CANTII - CANTIENS (Area of the Kent)
(1. Jahrhundert v. Chr.)
Die ersten Erwähnungen der Cantii stammen aus dem Ende des 2. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. Sie gaben Kent ihren Namen. In enger Verbindung mit dem Kontinent begann die Münzprägung in den ersten Jahren des 1. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. Caesar betrachtete sie als das am weitesten entwickelte Volk der Insel Britannien (BG. V, 13 und 14). Während seines Feldzugs in Großbritannien hatte Caesar gegen Casivellaunus gekämpft, der Boten zu den vier Königen geschickt hatte, die damals in Kent regierten (BG, V, 22). Dubnovellaunos, zitiert mit Tincommius, war ein Klientelkönig von Rom zur Zeit des Augustus, zitiert in den Res Gestæ (RG. XXXII)..
