Petite tête. Pour ce type, M. Crawford a relevé une estimation de 88 coins de droit et de 98 coins de revers. Ce type semble plus rare que ne le laissent paraître les ouvrages généraux et se rencontre moins souvent que celui avec les instruments pontificaux.

Historischer Hintergrund
CAECILIA

Quintus Caecilius Metellus ist der Sohn von Quintus Caecilius Numidicus. Er begann seine Karriere in Afrika während des Krieges gegen Jugurtha bei Marius. Er war Pontifex im Jahr 97 v. Chr., Prätor im Jahr 89 v. Chr. und Großpapst im Jahr 82 v. Chr. Er schloss sich Sylla an und teilte mit ihm das Konsulat. Prokonsul in Spanien zwischen 79 und 72 v. Chr., wurde er 79 von Sertorius geschlagen, dann 76 v. Chr., als er das Kommando mit Pompeius teilte. Sertorius wird schließlich im Jahr 72 v. Chr. ermordet. Er teilt den Triumph im Jahr 71 v. Chr. mit Pompeius.
