Droit et revers indiquent la valeur de la monnaie. Le protomé de taureau au droit indique la moitié de l’unité, l’hémidrachme. Tandis qu’au revers, les trois épis sont pour trois oboles. Une hémidrachme correspond à trois oboles (CQFD !) Les mêmes caractéristiques se retrouvent sur les monnaies de Byzance de la même époque (GC. 1583 avec un trident au revers).

Historischer Hintergrund
BITHYNIEN - KALCHEDON
(4. Jahrhundert v. Chr.)
Chalcedon, eine megarische Kolonie, wurde im 7. Jahrhundert v. Chr. an der asiatischen Küste der Propontis, direkt gegenüber von Byzanz, gegründet. Nach dem Feldzug Kimons in Thrakien trat Chalcedon dem Attischen Bund bei und blieb dort bis 413 v. Chr.. Anschließend kam die Stadt unter die Herrschaft der Lakedämonier. Nach der Schlacht von Cnide im Jahr 394 v. Chr., die Conon gewann, stellte sie sich gegen Sparta. Nach dem Frieden des Großkönigs im Jahr 387 v. Chr. (Antalcidas) geriet die Stadt wieder unter persische Herrschaft, bevor sie sich 364 v. Chr. mit Theben verbündete. Zur Zeit der Invasion Alexanders blieb die Stadt Darius III. treu und erkannte Alexander erst 330 v. Chr. an..
