Kommentare

Cette monnaie est d’un style très particulier. Si le flan et les types font pencher vers une attribution à un monnayage tardif de Basse Normandie, le style ne correspond exactement à aucune des monnaies publiées dans les ouvrages de référence. Il pourrait s’agir d’une frappe locale ou d’une imitation, fruit d’un graveur excentrique (?).
Il est intéressant de noter la liaison de coin de revers avec le statère n° 1598 de MONNAIES 38 (= BURGAN 26 juin 2004, n° 217).
This coin is of a very particular style. While the flan and the types point towards an attribution to a late coinage from Lower Normandy, the style does not correspond exactly to any of the coins published in the reference works. It could be a local strike or an imitation, the fruit of an eccentric engraver (?). It is interesting to note the reverse die link with stater no. 1598 of MONNAIES 38 (= BURGAN June 26, 2004, no. 217)
