Le seul exemplaire du Belfort avec ce monétaire au revers et ce type de tête au droit est attribué à Avize dans la Marne. La légende de droit du n° 587 du Belfort est lue +AVICIO C. Sur notre exemplaire, la légende est hors flan derrière la tête, mais la partie visible devant le visage semble donner (...)VIOC. Le monnayeur ERMOALDO y est représenté sur d'autres monnaies d'un autre type et d'un autre style, attribuées par Belfort à BELLOMO, pour Beaumont, commune de Menetou-Salon (Cher). Notre exemplaire ne portant pas du tout la légende BELLOMO, l'attribution la plus probable semble être celle proposée pour le n° 587. Est-ce que le monétaire Ermoaldo aurait travaillé dans la Marne et dans le Cher, ou est-ce un même nom pour deux personnages distincts ?.
The name of the mint ERMOALDO is complete on this example. The attribution is based on the reading of Belfort No. 587. The only example of the Belfort with this coin on the reverse and this type of head on the obverse is attributed to Avize in the Marne. The obverse legend of No. 587 of the Belfort reads +AVICIO C. On our example, the legend is off-flan behind the head, but the visible part in front of the face seems to give (...)VIOC. The mint maker ERMOALDO is represented on other coins of another type and another style, attributed by Belfort to BELLOMO, for Beaumont, commune of Menetou-Salon (Cher). Our example does not bear the legend BELLOMO at all, the most likely attribution seems to be that proposed for No. 587. Would the mint maker Ermoaldo have worked in the Marne and in the Cher, or is it the same name for two distinct figures?
