(21.05.1295-10.12.1320)
Michael VIII., der Vater von Andronicus, hatte 1261 nach 57 Jahren lateinischer Besatzung das Byzantinische Reich neu gegründet. Andronicus II. regierte von 1282 bis 1328. Sein Sohn Michael IX. starb vor ihm. Ihm folgte sein Enkel Andronicus III..
