Billet spécimen par mention SPECIMEN manuscrite à l'encre rouge, perforation à droite, numérotation en A.1/0002 et numéro de caissier 1 (caché dans le centre du bouclier du revers) à l'encre noire. Ce billet présente aussi une correction au crayon de la faute d'orthographe dans la valeur faciale et illustre le type dans le KM Indochine.

Historischer Hintergrund
DSCHIBUTI
Die Eröffnung des Suezkanals verlieh dem Golf von Aden am Ausgang des Roten Meeres eine beispiellose strategische Bedeutung. Die Engländer kontrollierten Aden, die Franzosen kauften Obock im Jahr 1862, während sich Reeder aus Marseille in Tadjoura niederließen. Im Jahr 1884 wurde ein französisches Protektorat mit den örtlichen Potentaten beschlossen. Dasselbe geschah mit den somalischen Häuptlingen. Oberst Lagarde gründete Dschibuti 1888. Die Hauptstadt wurde 1891 von Obock nach Dschibuti verlegt. Die Region erhielt 1894 den Status einer Kolonie und erhielt 1896 den Namen Côte Française des Somalis.
