Léon XIII, né Vincenzo Gioacchino Raffaele Luigi Pecci (2 mars 1810 - 20 juillet 1903), est le 256e pape de l'Église catholique (nom latin : Leo XIII ; nom italien : Leone XIII). Ayant succédé au pape Pie IX le 20 février 1878, il règne jusqu'à sa mort en 1903. Il est enterré en la basilique du Latran. Leo XIII, born Vincenzo Gioacchino Raffaele Luigi Pecci (March 2, 1810 - July 20, 1903), was the 256th Pope of the Catholic Church (Latin name: Leo XIII; Italian name: Leone XIII). Having succeeded Pope Pius IX on February 20, 1878, he reigned until his death in 1903. He is buried in the Lateran Basilica. Leo XIII is primarily known for his encyclical Rerum Novarum, published in 1891, the first social encyclical.
