Historischer Hintergrund
ROMANUS IV DIOGENES
(1.01.1068-19.08.1071)
Als Konstantin X. Ducas am 21. Mai 1067 starb, hinterließ er eine Frau, Eudocia, und drei Söhne, Michael VII., Konstanze und Andronicus. Eudocia war von Ende Mai bis Ende Dezember 1067 Regent und heiratete am 1. Januar 1068 Römer IV. Leider geriet der Kaiser 1071 im Kampf gegen die Türken in Gefangenschaft. Eudocia war erneut vier Monate lang Regent, bevor er ins Exil ging . Michael regierte bis 1078 allein.
