Suite au partage de la Pologne en 1939 entre l’Allemagne et l’Union Soviétique, plusieurs milliers d’officiers polonais sont internés dans des camp de concentration. 4404 officers du camp de Kozielsk. Ils seront exécutés et enterrés dans des fosses communes à Katyn près de Smolensk. Following the partition of Poland in 1939 between Germany and the Soviet Union, several thousand Polish officers were interned in concentration camps. 4,404 officers were interned in the Kozielsk camp. They were executed and buried in mass graves in Katyn near Smolensk. Prisoners from the Starobielsk (3,896 officers) and Ostashkov (6,287 police officers and gendarmes) camps were killed in Kharkov at the NKVD and in Tver respectively.
