Avec ce type de buste, nous sommes probablement en présence d’une production du Poitou, très certainement de Melle, mais Poitiers ne doit pas être exclu. Au XIXe siècle, certaines monnaies avec ce buste ont été attribuées à Uzerches.

Die Melle-Werkstatt im Südosten von Deux-Sèvres war in der Karolingerzeit wichtig und scheint seit der Merowingerzeit in Betrieb gewesen zu sein. Die Silber-Blei-Minen sind noch immer zugänglich und können von einem breiten Publikum besichtigt werden.
