Historischer Hintergrund

MALAYSIA - BRITISCH-NORDBORNEO

(20.06.1837-22.01.1901)

Victoria I. (1819–1901) war die Tochter von Edward, Herzog von Kent, und Victoria von Sachsen-Coburg. Sie trat 1837 die Nachfolge ihres Onkels Wilhelm IV. an. Nord-Borneo war seit 1877–1878 im Besitz der englischen Krone und wurde 1882 an die British North Borneo Company abgetreten. 1888 wurde es britisches Protektorat. 1941 fielen die Japaner in dieses Gebiet ein, das von 1946 bis 1963 erneut eine englische Kolonie wurde, als dieses Gebiet der Föderation Malaysia angegliedert wurde.
