Manifestement, cette école a vécu un moment violent lors de la Commune :
L' Ecole Albert-le-Grand, fondée par des Dominicains enseignants, est située non loin du XIIIe arrondissement, à 2km des fortifications, près du fort de Bicêtre (1800m), de la redoute des Hautes-Bruyères (2500m), et au pied du fort de Montrouge (700 m). De ce fort, la vue s'étend principalement vers le sud. Cet établissement, appelé aussi " La maison des Dominicains d'Arcueil", est dans un secteur mouvementé, où l'insurrection a ses principaux ouvrages de résistance, à côté du Château Laplace, dont elle est séparée par un mur mitoyen.
Pendant le siège de Paris, Albert-le-Grand est une ambulance, et conserve cette destination sous la commune. Le 15 avril 1871, les officiers du fort de Montrouge veulent établir une batterie dans le parc de l'école. Après discussions avec le Père Cotrault, le projet est abandonné. L'école reste donc uniquement une ambulance (où exerce le Docteur Durand), et sa Croix Rouge confère à ses occupants une assez grande sécurité.

Clearly, this school experienced a violent moment during the Commune: The Albert-le-Grand School, founded by Dominican teachers, is located not far from the 13th arrondissement, 2km from the fortifications, near the Bicêtre fort (1800m), the Hautes-Bruyères redoubt (2500m), and at the foot of the Montrouge fort (700m). From this fort, the view extends mainly to the south. This establishment, also called \\\"The house of the Dominicans of Arcueil\\\", is in a troubled area, where the insurrection had its main works of resistance, next to the Château Laplace, from which it was separated by a party wall. During the siege of Paris, Albert-le-Grand was an ambulance, and retained this purpose under the commune. On April 15, 1871, the officers of the Montrouge fort wanted to establish a battery in the school park. After discussions with Father Cotrault, the project was abandoned.
