Die Küstenstadt Korykos (lateinisch Corycus) lag auf halber Strecke zwischen den Bergen von Lamos und Kalykadnos, südwestlich von Elæussa. Die Region war bekannt für ihre Höhlenhöhlen, die von antiken Autoren „Corycian-Höhlen“ genannt wurden: Pindar (Pyth. I.31), Strabo (XIV.670) und Plinius der Ältere (NH. V.92)..
