Historischer Hintergrund
GALLIEN - AULERCI CENOMANI (Region die Mans)
(2. – 1. Jahrhundert v. Chr.)
Die Aulerci sind ein sehr großes Volk, das in drei große Stämme unterteilt ist, darunter die Aulerci Cenomani, die südöstlich der Aulerci Diablintes (Mayenne-Becken) im heutigen Departement Sarthe lebten. Ihre Stadt aus der galloromanischen Zeit, Vindunum, führt ihren Namen in der Form von Le Mans fort. Im Jahr 52 v. Chr. stellten sie ein Kontingent von fünftausend Mann für die Entsatzarmee von Vercingetorix, der in Alesia belagert war. Caesar (BG. VII, 75). Kruta: 72, 187, 266.
